Introduction

 

Hey there! My name is Katie and I live in the wonderful sunshine state.

When people ask me where I live in Florida I have a hard time answering because my parents' home is in Sarasota but I spend most of my time in Gainesville, where I attend the University of Florida. Florida has not always been my home. I was born in Georgia, where I lived for five years. Then my family moved to North Carolina which is where I made most of my childhood memories and where I truly "grew up." Just before high school my family relocated to sunny Sarasota to be close to extended family. 

As soon as I moved to Florida I became a Gator fan.

Attending the University of Florida is one of the best decisions I have made. There is truly nothing like The Swamp! Some of my favorite memories at UF are attending football games, floating down Ginnie Springs, and hiking nature trails in Paynes Prairie. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and am now starting my Master's degree! I will begin a full year internship in the 4th/5th grade learning community at P.K. Yonge Developmental Research school in Gainesville, FL. I cannot wait!

One of my biggest passions in life is traveling.

I love visiting new places and experiencing the amazing cultures that can be found all around the world. I have been fortunate enough to have had the chance to travel but I would give anything to see more! One of my life goals is teach abroad. Some of my other hobbies are spending time with my family, my friends, and my boyfriend. I love to spend time in the sun, out on the boat, and shopping!
